A practical guide to sticker printing: material choice, artwork, application and removal.

TOPIC 01

Which sticker material should I choose?

Start with where the sticker will be used: indoors or outdoors, dry or damp, short-term or long-term. Paper can suit dry packaging. Plastic-based films offer different options for damp conditions, but the adhesive and protective finish also matter. Outdoor suitability must be checked for the actual specification.

TOPIC 02

What is contour cutting?

Contour cutting follows the shape of your artwork instead of cutting a standard rectangle. It can be circular or a custom outline. A clear, closed vector cut path helps to evaluate the design. Very fine details or tight corners may not cut or apply reliably.

TOPIC 03

How do I choose sticker dimensions?

Measure the real available space on the intended surface. Supply width and height in millimetres, including any shaped edges. Printing a full-size paper mock-up is often more reliable than judging dimensions on a screen.

TOPIC 04

What artwork files should I supply?

A vector PDF usually keeps text and lines sharp. If you use a photograph or raster artwork, aim for around 300 dpi at the final print size when appropriate. Keep critical text away from the cut edge. Bleed and cutting requirements depend on the product and will be confirmed. For your quote you can attach a PDF, PNG or JPG of up to 3 MB. Export SVG files to PDF first.

TOPIC 05

How do I apply stickers correctly?

The surface should be clean, dry and free of grease and dust. Avoid touching the adhesive. Apply the sticker carefully, working from the centre outwards. Follow the processing instructions for the chosen material, particularly at low temperatures or on curved surfaces.

TOPIC 06

Can stickers be removed without residue?

Removal depends on the adhesive, surface, time in place and conditions. A permanent adhesive does not imply clean removal. Tell us before ordering when residue-free removal matters, and test a small hidden area first.
